Established in 2006 by chairman and chief executive John O’Dea and with offices in the US and Ireland, Crospon’s experienced team designs and manufactures medical devices that allow clinicians to assess the real-time effects of their interventions during endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures.
He has 24 years experience in the medical device industry. In 1998 he co-founded Caradyne, an Irish respiratory medical device company, which was acquired by Respironics Inc. in 2004. In the past 31 years he has held R&D management positions in Nellcor Puritan Bennett and engineering positions in Digital Equipment Inc. and in Dataproducts Inc. He is a named author on 18 U.S. Patents. He holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Electronics Engineering all from University College Dublin and an MSc in Clinical Research from NUI Galway. He is Adjunct Professor at the School of Engineering and Informatics at NUI Galway where he is Chairman of the External Advisory Board of BioInnovate Ireland and is Special Advisor to the SFI CURAM Centre for Research in Medical Devices. He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Irish Medical Devices Association, and a Past President of Engineers Ireland.
Ms. Sherlock has over 15 years of experience in the medical device industry, and has held finance, quality and operational management roles with such companies as Caradyne and Respironics. Most recently she served as Quality Manager in Respironics Ireland, where she led the company’s efforts in securing ISO13485 certification and in developing and maintaining an FDA QSR compliant facility. She has strong and diverse experience in the disciplines required to successfully launch an early stage medical device company. Ms. Sherlock holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Galway and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from the University of Limerick.
Mr. McHugh has 19 years of experience in electronics design and design management. Prior to joining Crospon he has worked with such companies as Space Technology Ireland, Nortel Networks and Respironics where he spearheaded the successful introduction of the Respironics BiPAP Focus non-invasive ventilator to the European and U.S. markets. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree from Trinity College Dublin.
