EndoFLIP® is a diagnostic tool for assessing the competence of the gastroesophageal junction in patients with GERD.
Uniquely, EndoFLIP® challenges the gastroesophageal junction to test its compliance.

  • The system consists of a probe, or balloon catheter that is attached to a data recorder with a screen.
  • The balloon catheter contains a series of sixteen electrodes that when filled with a conductive fluid, can measure the cross-sectional areas (CSAs) at different points along the balloon.
  • The probe can be deployed through the working channel of a therapeutic endoscope.
  • The CSAs can be translated to estimated diameters and the changing geometry of the gastroesophageal junction can be shown dynamically and in real-time on the screen.

The combination of direct endoscopic visualisation and EndoFLIP® evaluation of the gastroesophageal junction is an example of a new paradigm of diagnostic assessment called Functional Endoscopy.

The EndoFLIP® product has not yet received regulatory clearance in the US or EU markets and is not currently available for sale.
