Crospon appoint Chief Financial Officer
23rd January 2008 –Crospon, a medical device developer based in Galway has appointed
Hugh Kavanagh as Chief Financial Officer.
Mr Kavanagh brings considerable experience with him to the role. He joins the team from
Abbott Ireland Vascular Devices in Galway where he was Finance Director.
With over 19 years experience in the medical and technology industry, Hugh has held a
number of senior management roles, including Managing Director at the Irish facility of RSA
Security. At RSA he was responsible for establishing the Irish operation which services the
company’s customers in the Europe and Asia Pacific regions. He also held senior finance
management positions with Tyco Healthcare, Transitions Optical and Oracle.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Hugh trained and qualified as a Chartered
Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and
Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting from University College Dublin.
Established in 2006, Crospon, is a medical device company focused on the monitoring and
treatment of diabetes and gastroesophageal reflux disorder. (GERD). The company finalised
€2.3m in seed funding earlier in 2007 and recently announced a licensing agreement with HP
Labs to create an Industry-first ‘skin patch’ for smart drug delivery.
